We are waiting for Freaknik to descend. It has been dead for about a decade and some are trying to get Freaknik 2010 resurrected.

For those who aren't aware, Freaknik is Black Spring Break without the beach. For Georgia residents it means complete gridlock for the entire weekend in the city accompanied by public sex acts and so much bass it makes your teeth rattle.

I don't mind college kids celebrating spring break, I have been to the Redneck Riviera several times the last few years for spring break. My issue is the "cruising", which during Freaknik means parking on the expressway and blocking traffic in both directions for hours. What if an ambulance needed to access this road?

Freaknik wasn't as bad as expected this year because I think they missed actual spring break. Plus, they posted all activities on the Internet and cops turned out to monitor them before it got too crazy.

I think next year they should plan ahead and reserve one of the big parks in Atlanta so they won't be parked in the road.

Damn, you're right. What if someone needed an ambulance! I can see regular delivery trucks, taxis and other "non partying" vehicles on the road trying to get through.

I've done some wild partying in my past but this is just too weird. I think your idea of a big park is good. I just don't see the appeal of the road jams!
