Actually bats don't have as crappy vision as most people believe. Rather they have a bad FIELD of vision. They have a rather narrow field both peripherally and vertically. Kinda like tunnel vision and their acuity is not very good at distances over 50 feet. Their sonar is their main hunting and targeting tool. They are rather light sensitive too.
I gotta say that these are the cutest little flying rodents I've ever seen!
I like having bats around. They are the best natural insect control going!
There is a small bat colony behind my house and in recent years the population has greatly decreased. I was ready to put some bat boxes out when the population started making a comeback on its own so I just let nature take its course. There are now around a dozen of them and I hope they keep increasing in number till they reach their former level. (around 40 or so)
