0 I used to do the same when doing light riding there was a place I used to ride alot dont know if you heard of it. Its called hartshorne woods park, back in 2007 I road there. I landed a log step bad because it rained the night before and my front tire sunk into the mud right before the log and my shock totally compressed. Needless to say I flew off the front of my bike it went into air and landed on me. In the process I landed on and shattered the little bones in my left wrist and the way I came down the side of my head landed square on a giant rock. My helmet literally exploded into pieces but my head was perfectly fine. Earlier that day before I was about to ride I was considering not wearing a helmet cause it was too hot and I said to myself I was going to do some light trail riding no big deal. Had I decided to listen to myself instead of just doing the right thing I would have died that day. No matter how light of a ride your going to take or uncomfortable helmet will be that day there is too much we have too little control over for the temporary enjoyment to be worth dying over.

0 Thank you for the horror story but I will still not wear a helmet. Helmet is what fucked up my neck and back. I fell off my horse and bicycle so many times and IMO, if it's your time to get fucked up, it's your time and there's nothing you can do about it.
I know Hartshorne Woods. I used to train my horses there sometimes.

0 Way, way, way too humid to ride today. Got up all ready to go, got dressed before I had coffee and looked at the back door and it's all wet. ON THE OUTSIDE! Looks like someone hosed it down. If I did go ride, the bugs would be horrific so either way it's not worth it. I'll exercise indoors and use the Bowflex later and maybe swim.
Oh and get this... took that thorn protector out of the front tire and no more flats.

0 So... a couple of things about riding in the fall:
The sun sucks. It's never out of your eyes and when you get to the bay / water, it's worse. Leaves cover the trail and make it hard to see hazards. Leaves are often wet causing wheel spin and mold in the air. 80 degrees F in November is NOT warm!

0 And you know what else sucks? The lighter I get the less calories are burned for the same workouts I've been doing the last year! It's kind of discouraging to work out for an hour and only burn 99 calories. Same workout last year this time burned 236. ugh
