Well done!
It is horribly hilly here to ride bikes. My friend Mandy texted and asked for walking buddies during the school holidays (she is a receptionist at the church school) so I agreed thinking 5 or 6 mile trips. No, 1 or 2 miles she thinks. Well her house is half a mile away so I suggested she walked to mine, then I walked to hers! Wink
I'll get her going further than that- once she's at the beach she will never notice the distance. God! I walker further to work twice a day.

I heard you are getting it really hot again. We have it hot here too, but nothing like you have. The down side it's cloudy and dull too.

By the time noon came around it started clouding up but staying hot. Not like the past week with triple digit temps, but over 90 degrees all day. We played in the pool Beach

OK time to revive this thread.

Since Matt's new job has both of us waking up while it's still dark outside, I get a lot done in the first couple hours of the day and it leaves me with not much to do. So, today it's cool and crisp out there, I'm going to ride. I'm going to try to get a ride in every morning and THEN come back and clean the house and do the pool and stuff. At least this little run is close to the house, no driving required and I can do longer rides on weekends or go out again later in the day if I want. I can't go anywhere but close until he gets a work truck as the rack is on the truck, so that's useless to me for now.

Anyway, I got out early, spent an hour taking my time and taking in the sights. Talked to a nice old man about some of the birds and what not.

Stupid me forgot to stop the trip meter when I snapped the picture. So take off about 15 minutes of that time.

I even took a little movie of the beach for you all Biggrin
You can see an osprey sitting in her nest there in the the distance. Lots of wind on the water and there was so much sea foam it looked like someone suds-up the beach!

Ha ha I'm back on the bike!

Took a 5 1/2 mile ride on Sunday. Had every intention of taking it easy and sticking to the dirt road but my knee felt so good I took the trails.

Thistle on the beach road is blooming so I took a picture. There was a nice sailboat in the bay but I didn't bother to stop for a picture because I had a good clip going uphill in that sand.

I did stop to do a little maintenance on the trail so I don't get "close-lined" on that fast section of trail and moved a fallen log off my "right turn" out of the boggy area.

Must remember to use my inhaler before going out so I don't huff and puff so much. It was not fun inhaling those little bugs. Barf

Bowflex is up and out on the patio ready to use. Now it just has to stop raining Dodgy

Not bad for a first outing after knee surgery.
That pink "50" is from miles done last year. Didn't ride much obviously.

You have almost as many miles so far this year as I do.
I only have a few measly rides to work under my belt, I'm old, fat, lazy, and broke down.
I have a 45 mile charity ride coming up the end of this month and a 62 miler the end of July.
I gotsta get riding.Sorry

The 50 is from last year. I have 5.23 miles this year. Now if the rains stop I can add more.

Wearing heals - low ones at that makes my knee ache. 5 miles in the woods nada. ugh

6.68 mile bike ride. Time: 45:01. 208 calories burned according to my Cyclemeter.
314 calories burned according to my FitBit Charge HR but the miles it counted - 0.89. wot
I DID get my protein without having to come back and make breakfast. Several deer flies and a swarm of "no see-ums" did the trick!

Ok I dawdled a bit on my ride. Took some pictures and had these two characters crossing my path until I 'herded' them out to the marsh.

the bay is like glass today. so peaceful and no jellyfish yet!

Seaside Heights bridge (on the right) from the marshes. If you point your finger in the middle of the image and slide it all the way to the edge on the right, that's where I live Biggrin You have to click the image to make it full size to see the bridge.

Ride stats and map:

Well if you look at the map and compare the photo of the marsh with the map you can kinda see how it lines up. The red dot is my house and I took the picture at #3 spot on the map.
