Did 5 miles today on the beach run. Cut it short by about a mile due to a huge infestation of deer flies.

Ran into my new houseboy on the trail too! Turns out he does sheetrock as well. The middle room will be getting done sooner than Matt thinks!

20 miles after work, 6 of us, no serious competition or drafting going on, just a great ride.

20 miles, we were on the road for about an hour and a half with a bunch of short stops waiting for people to catch up. Saturday's 32 mile ride was an hour and 45 minutes, but that was now waiting, if you got dropped, you got dropped, and we only made one short stop.

That's not too bad for people that are physically fit for the task. I'm working up to that. It's taking a lot longer than expected due to my fucked up bones.

My carrier should be coming in the next few days too. I'll be happy to find new trails to ride. I wont' ride the roads here. Too much traffic, no place to really get out of the way. Jersey drivers suck too. It's all highway speeds here and It makes me nervous. I'll stick to the woods.

As you know, I like trails and woods too. Actually, having a choice, I would rather ride trails than the road, I just feel safer.

I had a short mountain bike ride in the county park yesterday, just to kinda check out my K2, then came home and cleaned it up, all ready for today at the ski slopes.
I missed last night's group ride, they were headed for some steep hills that I would have enjoyed crushing them on, but I had dinner plans and stuff.

My bike rack came yesterday. Going to have to take it to the hitch guy and get the hole reamed out. It has the sleeve on it for a 2" receiver but mine's 3". I have a sleeve for it to go into and it's pretty tight and sturdy but the screw that comes with it is too short and the locking pin I bought is too short. My guy will have what I need.

Nothing is easy with you, is it?

I did the ski slope thing.....holy shit!!

It seems that riding down ski slopes is a young man's sport. It was like 5 minutes of terror then a nice pleasant chair lift ride back to the top. I think I burned right through those new brakes.
Then the guy at the top tells me that there are trails over there >, but be careful, they are logging there. Well holy shit, nothing but a mud pit and there is no such thing as going back up this monster hill. I had to be careful not to get the shoes sucked off my feet in the mud.
The trails were way out of my class, damn teeter totters and shit in the woods and walls to ride sideways on and stuff, fuck that.
I decided on my last run down to go straight down the slope where they ski, holy fuck is that steep!!!
Skidding down all the way, ripping up weeds and grass and rocks, I had my stomach on the seat and my ass almost touching the back tire, the back wheel locked up, as much front brake as I dared to pull and trying to keep from getting all twisted up in ruts and unseen shit on the slope.

However, I had a pretty tasty burger in the lodge thingy.
Needless to say, my down hill career is over, I will stick to driving slow on the driveway...I mean trails and road riding.
