Metal detect as a hobby?

I have been an avid detectorist for almost 30 years and have found some pretty cool stuff.

anyone else?

You know, actually I do own a couple of metal detectors, I got them years ago (about 20) when I lived in Fla. I have not used them in about 20 years. Shame huh?
Let me see if I remember right, I have a garrett and a fisher underwater model.
I used to mess around on the beaches, never found an jackpots or anything though.

That has always been on my list of things I'd like to try. Wish I knew someone nearby who did it, so I could try it out before buying any equipment.

Some beaches actually have equipment that you can rent. I was into it for a while a few years back but with all my other projects going on I have no time. I should take a day off and not tell anyone and just do it. Last year when I was walking around the woods checking deer trails I found a few house foundations with large rocks and a few big trees. I like to look for landmarks that may have been around years ago, that may have been a good place for people to hide things. There is also an old drive-in theater that is off the old main drag that is overgrown, I would love to check out the food stand area.

We should get one and do it after the Bennies go home in the fall. With all the guidos and guidettes and their bling I'm sure there's a virtual treasure out there! We always talk about doing it but never actually implement the idea.
[Image: PancakeBunny.jpg] I have no idea what you're talking about so here's a bunny with a pancake on it's head

I started metal detecting because Im a coin collector, I have found thousands of dollars in spare change , but as time went on I figured out what the real draw of the detector was and si, its history.

a person can dig up some just about anywhere.
