Yeah, I still have that, and you are right it is a very go-pro like. I need to make a mount for my Honda, just get some clips from it. I am thinking more like an always on looping camera like a true dash cam. A set it up and forget it until you need the video type thing, mostly just as a CYA thing like you mentioned.
That's what mine does. 5 minutes at a time. makes it easier to find shit too.
