So there was this picture of gloves that looked like dragon scales going around and I thought instead of buying them, I'd give making a pair a go. I used Lion Brand Landscapes yarn in the "tropical" hues for that fantasy look.
You can download the pattern here as well.
I used two different sized hooks for this because of the sizing and in some areas where they call for the single crochet (sc) I needed more flexibility in the stitching, so I went one size up.
Starting chain - use bigger hook
Scales and Double Crochets (dc) use the smaller hook.
LAST row on the gloves where they make the picot, use the smaller hook.
Follow the instructions for your size and make adjustments as needed.
I may tack down the scales with sewing thread because they "pull up" when you make a fist and move your hand. I'll have to wear them a bit first and see.
This was used with a #4 worsted weight yarn. I think you can get away with a smaller weight like a #3 if you can find the right colored wool. A lighter weight yarn might not be so bulky in the scales. I'm also going to experiment with some VERY light weight yarn when setting up the "under row" to make those scales onto one of these days. That should take out some bulk too.

I have no idea what you're talking about so here's a bunny with a pancake on it's head
