Friday, Saturday & Sunday we hit the strip in Ocean City, Md for the annual car show and cruise. Some REALLY nice American Muscle there and the odd foreign car.

Friday started out wet so we checked in, had dinner at the Bonfire and tried Dead Freddie's, which was way too packed to even park. Called it an early night and hit the strip early Saturday and the convention center and inlet car shows.

The ferry ride was terrible as usual. Rough seas had me green - again!

CLICK THE IMAGES FOR FULL SIZE VIEW TO APPRECIATE THEM BETTER!

Look familiar Trudi?

I saw this car and thought of Mark.
Gorgeous T-bird and I voted this one best in show and if it wins it will be featured in next year's photo promotions. It was just beautiful and the pictures do not do it justice.

This is the T-bird model I'm most familiar with. My mom's friend Elaine had one in electric blue with white interior. As kids we thought that back seat was the shit and we couldn't get enough of her driving us around in it. I was 4, 5 & 6 and she wrecked the car in '66 Sad

We had our foreign car contingent and I thought of Trudi and her Fiat:

OK More next post!

Saturday brought us to the Inlet show and sunny skies.

We saw a couple of really sweet Caddy's. Well, one I expected Huggy Bear to drive! Ruined a perfectly good Eldorado IMO, but hey, to each his own.

Classic DeVille:

Eldorado:

Saw a beautifully restored Edsel:

A gorgeous Corvette:

I just love the color and the wheels on this Camaro:

A beautiful Impala and Chevelle SS. I love the color scheme on each:

More coming!

Saturday afternoon we tried to hit the inlet, but the traffic was so bad you couldn't get there, so we took a bread from the cars, had lunch and hit Assateague Island hoping to see some wild ponies. Good thing I brought my long lens. I need a longer one too.

Trudi, this is the area that was blocked off when we went. It's really small, but really nice in there. There are boardwalks that are built above the marsh for observation / trail walking etc. The one I took the photos off of had an offshoot ramp to a small beach.

Those tiny specks is a small herd grazing in the marsh grass:

And we saw some horseshoe crabs doing the nasty: Giggle

And a blue heron:

And a crab way down in the oyster bed.
I was tempted to climb down and grab some lunch!
Click this one to see it in the water.

Came back later after lunch and walked on the boardwalk for a bit and saw the pervert store where adults ride kids. wot

The boardwalk and lower OCMD is not the freak show Seaside, NJ is. People here are polite and everything is CLEAN. No schmutz and gunk stuck on things and the bathrooms are spotless. The souvenirs and clothing shops carry the exact same crap only it says Ocean City on them and not NJ. Oy.

More coming!

Saturday night we cruised the strip. The street was FILLED with people just parked in lawn chairs drinking and encouraging everyone to smoke the tires.

Fucking hillbillies galore! In some places they were packed 10 deep along the road. Lots of pickup trucks with double stacks - lil' pretend big rigs! Lots of black smoke coming out of them too. Jesus the stench of burned rubber, nylon (from those who went past the treads I guess) and diesel stink filled the air. I just don't understand people who feel the need to smoke and screech in heavy traffic. It's certainly not good for the car, tires or the poor sap in front of you who you just rear-ended. Yep, saw lots of that too.

One kid shouts out to us, "Nice 5-0!" I replied with, "Yes it is!"

They were all taking pictures so I decided to grab the camera and take pictures of them. Only a few came out good enough to see, but all in all I got a lot of laughs from the crowd for it. We had a good time.

Got a shot of the local tough guys on their bikes: Giggle

And we took mutual photos with these dorks:

and they just kept lining up:

The guy in the bottom right corner in the blue shirt could be TenFour!

only good shot I was able to get of 'the cruise on the strip':

And of course the hillbillies:

More coming!

Sunday - inlet show! We get there early enough to find a parking spot and no traffic getting in. Yahoo

Lots more American Muscle and an opportunity to get some T-shirts and other tchotchkies.

OK here's the rest of the cars worth noting.

I thought of LK and his love for the bowtie and trucks when I saw this:

Couple of 'Vettes. The only split window in the show:

Love those old tail fins!

Paul Michael Glazer signed the visor on this one. My neighbor had one like it and sold it for a stupid jet ski! Nono The Torino is more fun.

So many Mustangs & Cobras, but this one was so pretty:

And of course, lots of antique vehicles of all sorts.
Love the wheelie bars on the Ford!

and lastly, the chalkboard car! Of course I did some shameless promoting of the site on the tire! Wink

More coming!
