Don Garlits is at it again.

This time he has not only set but (in his usual style) shattered the record for electric powered vehicles.

The standing record was 7.95 @ 156.00 so Don built Swamp Rat 37 and raised the bar by gobs.

As if running almost 20 MPH faster wasn't enough, he wants to take the car past 200 MPH.

Even if he wasn't standing by the car I would have recognized it as a Swamp Rat.

There's more vids out there. I watched 6 or 7 different ones. On one he does a burnout and it DOES make an impressive noise from the motors. Nothing like the roar of 10,000 HP nitromenthane monsters but pretty growly for electric motors.

Oh by the way....this was just a shakedown run for the car. He said on an interview vid for the Miami Herald that he expects to take it out and run over 200 MPH some time in early June.

Looks like the first video was taken in Englishtown. Unless all tracks have similar control buildings?

All the footage is from Braedenton, FL.

Most of the control towers are similar. Englishtown's grandstands are a bit closer to the track and there's a taller retaining wall on the sides of the track. Also Old Bridge has more trees at the head of the track and behind the spectator side (right lane) spearating the track from the municipal airport.

The car is actually the same size as any other top fueler.
