Those blocks are crumbling. you can't see from the pictures but I assure you they are not safe to reuse even filling them in. They are on a lumpy footing that we can't even dig out because of how stupidly rigged they seem to be TO THE FOUNDATION! Every time we start a project plans always change on how it's going to get done because of the terrible way they built this house. It was built in '62 and I really don't think there were any proper building codes they had to adhere to. We open the walls and the beams aren't even all 16" on center. It's a variety of widths! Don't even ask about the pipes! They need to be redone as some go from small to big and some from big to small. Water pressure stinks.

I would have taken the easy way out and just gone to the local hardscape place and gotten some pre-formed steps. Place, level and presto!

yeah, I don't think they'd fit in the car and I couldn't place them myself. What I'm doing will look nice and next summer I'll carry it around to the front.
