I found a very useful site that will help you delete any accounts you would like to be removed from. This site will help guide you to links that will do just that. They also list the ones where you are held hostage forever.
I suggest that on any sites you do join that are listed as impossible you change your email address to something fake so you stop being solicited. I've had to resort to that a couple of times.
