I run over small animals all the time. Fucking bastard prairie dogs are my usual victims. I swerve to avoid dogs though. Cats, I'll brake for them, but if I hit them while breaking or it means danger to swerve, I won't feel too bad.

I've hit a deer before and took it home and ate it. That is still good shit there. Same with antelope and elk. One time, someone hit a deer in front of me on the highway and kept going. When I came back through that place a few hours later, the deer was dressed and quartered up. It is stupid to not let people pick up the dead animal for whatever is left over.

However, there are so many dead whitetail getting mowed down that I do not even bother anymore, I am so sick of eating it.

They generally try to keep traffic moving, so if it's in the road they will move it. I've seen a ranger climb out of his vehicle and drag an elephant bone out of the middle of the road. Hehe, guy was swearing about how the "fucking hyenas" bring it back every day.

I honestly don't know if they just dragged them off into the bushes, or disposed of them in another way. Normally, when people aren't involved they leave things alone (unless it's blocking a road) but I don't know the policy regarding road kill.

You should take it home and eat it PIG, that would be the only GREEN option.

Usually I'm pretty good about not hitting squirrels that get caught in the road. I know they are a bit near sighted and go into their schizophranic mode right before running under the wheels, so I blow my horn well in advance. But this latest one didn't get the message in time. Just before my hood obscured the little fellow from view, he started 'jukin' out', followed by the usual bump in the road.

If I hit enough of them, I'd take them home, skin and pressure cooker them, and have some nice fried squirrel, grits and gravy. But one just isn't worth it.
