Someone at another forum (that TK knows, by the way... ) is giving away a "new" Barbie that she's had on display in her house for an indeterminate time. She already admitted it 'might' smell like cigarette smoke (guarantee to, she's a heavy smoker) and she's also got cats, dogs and birds in her house.

Would you want this doll for your child? I don't care if it hasn't been handled or played with, it's still been exposed to allergens. Yet she's got quite a few people clamoring for this doll.

I don't get it.

If it's in the box, yes. If not, it's not worth jack shit and I wouldn't give it to my kid if I had one. I wouldn't take it for myself either without the box. When she says new, does she mean a modern Barbie or a collectible?

How much does a Barbie cost anyway, it couldn't be more than 20 bucks? And if it was a collectible then I doubt it's worth anything since it was taken out of the box. It hardly seems worth the effort, even more so if the damn thing reeks of cigarette butts and cat urine lol.

Yeah but Barbie has to be in her box, unopened to be worth anything. I still have mine from 1964 but it's been played with and filthy from fucking G.I.Joe she's worthless.

Antiques give me the creeps. I inherited a bunch of stuff from my grandparents and I keep it all at my husbands warehouse. Some of it is probally worth something, but I don't want it in my house. I have no need for a hundred year old rocking chair with a floral print fabric seat.
