Kidnapping Suspect Admitted to Disturbing Sexual Fantasies

ANTIOCH, Calif. — Phillip Garrido spent the 1970s on one debauchery after another: LSD trips, cocaine binges, pot smoking, public masturbation. Then in 1976, he found a new way to indulge his twisted sexual fantasies.

He kidnapped a woman from a South Lake Tahoe parking lot, handcuffed her, took four hits of acid and raped the victim in a storage unit in Reno. The investigator in the case described the storage unit as a "sex palace," with various sex aids, pornography, stage lights and wine.

ANTIOCH, Calif. – Jaycee Lee Dugard has been subjected to what police say was nearly a lifetime of torment in a backyard compound set up by a religious zealot with a rap sheet dating to the 1970s. Prosecutors say she was raped and had two children by her captor, who hid her from the outside world.

But it became increasingly clear Friday that this 18-year nightmare did not have to be for Dugard, with new details surfacing that authorities blew numerous chances to catch her alleged captor.

I'll bet that the officers dismissed the neighbor's assertions as nutjob pissed off neighbor trumped up complaints that were made as some sort of attempt to get Garrido in hot water as a way to "get him" for some petty reason.

Makes you wonder just exactly how big of a hole those officers want to dig so that they can hide in it now that they know the truth.

What's really fucked up is that he had been on a sex offender list since his conviction and jail time in the '70's. This makes it so no LEO needs a warrant to search his property. None of them ever even took a quick look-see around the place.

I still cannot believe neighbors were never afforded an opportunity to snap a photo, get more intel by spying etc considering how close together the houses and yards were!

This one is even more bizarre than the one in Austria, where the father kept his daughter hidden with all her children for years and his wife even accepted her grandchildren as abandoned when he introduced one or two of them into the family home.
