I've done it TK!Shok

I booked my test in September. I planned to used my own bike which gives me a restriction ride for 2 years, but Dee at work hasn't really co-operated in getting the days off for the sunday test. Syl' has juggled her days off, bless her. She thinks I'm bonkers, but hasn't said it.

Now,Whistle Paul my instructor wants me to try the schools bike on a slow ride test because he thinks I should really go for the direct access test, he says the bigger bike will be easier to pass on, for controlled stops and saloms.

Well if I leave a dent in the tarmac.......

Do what Paul suggests. My ex took his test on a Harley - the only person to ever pass in our county on a Harley. I took my test on a smaller Honda 400 but had my own Harley waiting at home for me.

I sold the Honda the next day.

A lot of the schools here use mopeds to loan out to students to pass the test. I say take it as Paul suggests, once and for all. If you can pass the test on a regular sized bike, then you just proved to yourself and the city that you are more than capable of driving a bike.

There was a fellow a few years back who took his on a 250 Bultaco trials bike (street legal).

He had ridden trials for years and finally decided to get his license for the street. The examiner asked him to pull forward and stop keeping his feet on the pegs as long as he could before dropping a foot to the ground. Now remember here......he rode trials and those guys can balance a bike then walk around it never touching the ground. He came to a stop, balanced the bike and just sat there with his feet on the pegs at a dead stop.

The examiner shook his head and then asked him to make a right turn, follow the lines through the slalom, follow the 180 degree curve and return to him. John (yes that's his real name) asked non chalantly "One wheel or two?" The cop sarcastically said "One." John complied by following the instructions while doing a wheelie. Upon stopping and holding the bike once again with feet up the cop asked if he ever rode before and John explained that he rode trials competitions.

The cop tossed his pencil in the air and said "Jesus H Christ.....at least I'm not going nuts!" and proceeded to grant John a pass for the test.

How do I know this? We trailered the bike to the test center and I was driving the pickup truck.

You know I was asked to hold my feet up on my test too. I could do it only for a very short time - enough to pass - on the Honda but on my Harley, I could hold my feet up for quite a long time on the pegs.

I learned to do that early on when I was a kid because my feet don't touch the ground but for the tip of my shoes so it is easier for me to balance and not burn my legs trying to touch the floor!

It's fun messing with the instructors isn't it LK?

Thanks for the encouragement. The surprising thing was when I told Mark he said 'go for it' too. Good
Today we went to buy a dongle for the laptop Scratchead (don't think I know what I'm talking about because I don't) and at the round-a-bout there was the school I've booked up with a trainee on a Kawasaki 400 and I thought 'Ooooo,Shok no I don't like the look of that' but Mark pointed out it must have been his own bike because the bike Philip took his test on was sign written in the school logo.

Dave the Crane (bike club friend of Philip's, our's too I suppose) was visiting Philip when we were there and he said he knew the school bike would be ideal, even suggested it should be a my next bike after the Honda and then Philip could get back into biking on it too.

Philip has every faith in me Whistle He said I could borrow his t-shirt, although on reflexion though he should wear it in hospital.
'Designed by a Genius'
'Built by Craftsman'
'Ridden by a Twat'

Its a good job he is in hospital already Stirthepot

The T-shirt comment made me think of a shirt I saw at the drag races.

"Two Wheels
180 MPH
No roll cage
No parachute
NO BRAINS!
Pro Stock Motorcycle"

I started today on the Kawasaki.
Bearing in mind I've haven't had much sleep lately I thought about postponing it, but my instructor said, just give it your best and if I'm too tired we will just keep having breaks.

My first hazard was just getting the bugger on the full stand, but after the second attempt it was ok, possibly even easier than my little Honda.
Oh, the bloody slow figure of 8's and through the cones started badly and I just kept think 'crap-crap-crap!' Doh
Then I got it and Bill said I was actually the first pupil in ages to get everything together in the first hour (it felt like all morning). Then the hazard....right so moving on, the high speed emergency stop. Bill said if I didn't stop trying to anticipate him he would push a CBT trainee in my path Shok So I got better and we set off onto the road which started off as a nice jolly trip out into the country.
The instructor uses a intercom for instruction, but you can't talk back, only do as you're told or nod/shake your head.

Coming back into town we were going to pass the woodland were we have a tree dedicated to our daughter, so I decided to take that route and all Bill said was 'And were was your Stay Alive Glance at the junction?' OOPs! So he came with me to see the tree and realised his partners mother was at the same place, somewhere.

Got through some horrible junctions, studied a weird system of roads where nearly ALL the traffic got into the wrong lane for the old town and we actually saw several near misses cars trying to change lane at the last minute.
Then we went onto a part of the old part of town built on a hill, and no joke it was horrible slow riding around hair-pin bends and hill starts and turning left, right following loops and junctions the width of TK's truck! Then turning left as a Volvo was coming out of the junction I thought that's it! ShockI'm going to side swipe it!Heart
'Don't look at the car!' I kept thinking and on I went tight into the bend.
When we stopped, Bill was laughing!Scratchead
He said I couldn't have got closer if I'd kissed the driver through the window. Oh crap-crap-crap Banghead

So after a cuppa tea at the office Paul offered me to move my test up to next thursday. Hmmmm. Maybe I wasn't so bad.

The 3 lads and 1 adult failed their CBT. The adult and one lad got stopped half way around the course!
When I finally got back to the training school and was getting my own bike the other instructor came in and just shook his head. These kids wouldn't listen to instruction, so they have to go back again at the weekend.

It was greatBiggrin
