Back to the cat recovery stories: I once had an old 7 toed calico stray, she had some kind of a cold, could hardly breath, snot hanging out of her face. She was a stray and could not be caught or touched. Well she got so sick that she could not get away and we caught her, took her to the vet and they wanted to put her down. We brought her home with some antibiotics to choke down her.
She would not eat, we tried can food and tuna and all kinds of soft food figuring her throat would hurt. A day or two of antibiotics and she's still not eating. Just for the hell of it we put out a bowl of the Wal-mart Special Kitty dry food that all the strays around here get and she starts to eat like there is no tomorrow.
It turns out that her nose was stuffed up and she could not smell the can food and didn't know what it was, she had never been treated to it before, but she knew what the special kitty looked like. She was feeling better, just didn't know she had any food.
Anyway...she was my best buddy after that for a few years till she disappeared, I assume she died somewhere. But I like to think that we were both better off in some way because we crossed paths.
Stupid cats!!
