Apparently the FAA wasn't too thrilled with this situation. Distraction to other ATC operators is a big concern and allowing your children to do your job is against company policy.
It's not the first time it happened as well. With a major airport like JFK, it's just plain stupid. The ATC and his supervisor are on investigative leave.
