i had fried scrapple with maple syrup as a kid (in Maryland). my Mom was southern, and bought it at a farmers market. i wasn't crazy about it when i found out it was stuff they swept off the abattoir floor.
then as an adult my Dad would buy it at the market for me because he thought i liked it. in the dark of night i would take it out and leave it in the deep woods so as not to seem unappreciative.
