Solid cement is not a good idea around here. It doesn't last forever and the old stoop was cement and it crumbled to dust. The block is better because if there are any repairs that need doing to the house foundation it's easy to pull them up and put them back. Also I just can't afford to buy the cement. I already have the materials for the block left over from the patios. I'm doing a 'fix up to sell' deal.
