They actually encourage them where they work you like a slave for a few years here first and then give you a couple days off, most times without pay and make like they're doing you a huge favor for it.
I booked my holiday before the shop was put up for sale. My boss has lost the battle on holiday pay. Weird one, the new owner has insisted he pays for our holiday entitlement up to the next holiday year (1st January 2015) - so we had to work out how much we have had and how much we are owed. I've only had 3 and a half days and 5 bank holidays so far.
EU law is everyone gets 20 days holiday and paid bank holidays (we get 12 in the UK)
So- I can only assume my holiday pay will be from David before he closes the shop sell.
There is also the issue of how the time I'm off is covered too- Pam isn't qualified and Julie has decided unless they ask her nicely and 'make it worth her while' she isn't working her day off to cover my weekend shift. I could get back in for Saturday but decided to take it off in case my flight is delayed. As it is I'm not landing until 9.30pm and then I have to possibly catch a bus home, another 3 hour ride. Mark is thinking of going to Wales to a car event and Philip will be on night shift!
*We have decided if things don't go as planned we are going to re-write our own contracts -or- get our entitled holiday pay and leave- together. Sort of a work to rule policy
