Trudi, your boss selling the business? That's his prerogative as I'm sure you know. Not letting the staff know that was his intention ahead of time? Again his prerogative BUT it is a bit inconsiderate to the employees.
As to you and Julie turning in the keys and wanting off the security? GOOD MOVE! At this point you have no clue as to the attitude and morals of the new owners and some healthy suspicion coupled with proactive thinking surely can't hurt.
