I recently had been considering acquiring someone elses business and it was very important the owner did not say anything to the staff that he was considering to sell because I wanted to see how the staff truly behaved and I learned alot and why not to buy that business with what i saw.
That's different than what Trudi described. Once you they knew they wanted the business there should have been no secrecy after that.
