I Honda CB125 - one careful lady owner and one not so careful.

I have just completed Mod One of my Direct Access to ride any motorbike on a Yamaha Diversion 650cc. I lost 3 points but I'm really happy with the results!

One point was on the figure of 8 - I thought I'd failed on that by riding wide on the first loop and missed the blue cone and crossed a yellow.
One point was for speeding! An emergency stop has to be completed at 31mph (50km) I did it at 58km and again thought I'd failed because I could hear the back brake (took it off as soon as I heard it!)
One point for then not going fast enough on the avoidance! Thankfully they can choose to give you a second chance at their discretion. I did it at 46Km but then got it to 49km- but since it wasn't 50km it was marked down

I was so sure it was a crap result I asked Elliott to join me for the examiners review. The examiner was great, he talked it through each phase of the test after he said I had passed- 'Put you out of your misery Trudi' he said. I didn't know if I should laugh or cry- (Elliott said one candidate hugged the examiner once which left him speechless)

So then the young lad who joined us today for his retest on a Honda 250 was tested. Elliott was actually called to the office- the examiner wanted him there. All the other school students and instructors stopped talking (trying to calm the nerves talking rubbish)
James had passed- but like me had a point for speeding- 60km, also the poor kid wasn't really wearing the correct clothing and the examiner said to take the next modual Elliott was to find James better boots and gloves or he couldn't take him out on the road safely.

We took the bikes back to the practice site (via a celebration trip down the by-pass) and I began putting my stuff in the car. James talked to Elliott about how to get some second hand gear through the shop- Elliott said he would get his wife onto it (she runs that side). He thanked him and said congratulations to me and picked up his gear..
'How are you getting home?'
Walk, he replied. I asked where he lived, 8 miles away but on my way home.
So I threw him in the car to took him home- he lives with his dad & uncle in the poorest part of town- they all work- but they earn rubbish wages- felt a bit sorry for him, he was trying so hard.
It turns out he is a trainee chef at the same restaurant as No1's new girlfriend, he said she had told him all about how her boyfriend had 2 motorbikes and a Golf (icon for this age group!)
Small world!
