Between terrain and solid I was suppose to have a comma I messed up in my typing.
IRS is better for the mustang because of its on road performance advantages,stability, traction etc, you wont off road with your mustang and that is the only time IRS is at a disadvantage because of the additional linkages.Keep in mind doing tight turns or driving fast has no effect on IRS as far as wear on the joints is concerned.
Solid axle is more heavily built and has less moving parts giving it the offroad advantages, but a stiffer rougher ride on street driving.
