It's primarily there for them anyway. I figured that since they like windows and they like to tramp across my papers and electronic equipment, this shelf will grab their attention and leave my stuff alone. 
The guy at Home Depot today pulled a miracle. Behr no longer makes the colored indoor stain I used on the desk and shelf and I need lots more stain for more shelves going up. So, one HD store had an asshole in there that I gave a little attitude back when he tried to tell me I do not have a quart of blue stain by Behr. Asshole.
So I went to another store and Minwax makes something similar but not quite. Well, he experimented with the formula from Behr that I had and he got it exact! Fuck that old man and his sour attitude.
So, late tomorrow work can resume.
