Money grubbers plain and simple.
The media did it's job putting fear into everyone. Take away the guns but put armed guards in all the schools. Yeah, that says what? Military state to me. Why put that kind of fear into people? It does more harm to the kids than the actual occurrence. Little kids go to school and have to see guards to remind them something bad is going to happen? Nice way to fuck up their heads.
Kids are resilient. They'll get past this and move on. Seems to me the adults are the ones who are hysterical ,right on up to our [on the verge of] dictatorship of government.
