I just remembered why the name WND and the name of that author sounded so familiar.
You remember my post a while back about how this author kept on talking about how women were "addicted" to porn and how they need massive help, etc.... as if it was a truly vile thing that women actually liked watching porn? I think it was on AI Jane though...
Anyway this female author kept on making this huge fuss over it... she made it out that anybody who watched porn was nothing but a pervert who were on the verge of raping children all the time or something.
While I do think porn addiction do exist, the way she went about it was completely ridiculous. She basically pretty much attacked anybody who had an sex drive, claiming that 98% of people had a "unnatural fixation with sex".
As a woman who watches porn once in a while, and has a healthy sex drive enough to enjoy sex with my own boyfriend.... I resented the fact that she was claiming that women like me would sexually assault kids just because I watched porn more than once.
And now I think this whole Facebook story has almost lost all creditability, just simply because it's written by the same woman who wrote a highly hysterical article about Female porn addiction, and how it was going to turn us all into sexual deviants.
I wouldn't be surprised if this was one of her Hysterical Fear-mongering. After all, I've been on Facebook for more than a year now... I joined because my family and a few real life friends who lives out of state was on there and it's easier to keep tabs on them this way. and never in my life did I ever come across any kinds of porn, illegal or otherwise on there. In fact, Facebook seems to be crammed full of pictures of puppies and kittens on there, along with posts about religion and the like.
There's a sliver of truth in there somewhere, but you know how those news media are... they take a sliver of truth and then blow it up into epic portions to make it seem like A company or a entire group is SUPER EVIL and working with the even more evil group that the police had been trying to stop.
keep in mind that I am not defending Facebook... I couldn't care less if it went down... I would just tell my family to use another website for us to all keep tabs on each other. I'm just highly skeptical because this seems like a story designed to prey upon people's emotions and stir them up into an angry fevor just so that they can rake in the big money.
