That word doesn't mean what you think it means:
1: often offensive : one afflicted with cretinism (Cretinism is a condition of severely stunted physical and mental growth due to untreated congenital deficiency of thyroid hormones (congenital hypothyroidism) usually due to maternal hypothyroidism.)
2: a stupid, vulgar, or insensitive person : clod, lout
The second definition definitely fits here but not to describe the baby sloths.
