On the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month of 1918, World War One, the war to end all wars, The Great War, ended. Thanks to the internet, I have a habit of catching the Remembrance Day ceremonies in the UK and various commonwealth nations. It was good as usual, if very solemn at Whitehall in London.
I could have done the free wings at Hooter's today, among a million other events going on it seems around here in town, but I was more content to lounge around in my pajamas watching movies and doing college homework. I dunno how many times, despite being in mufti, I was somehow picked out of the crowd and given a free beer, or free meal or some other service by someone better than I. I kind of wanted to avoid this time. I never felt comfortable when that happened anyhow, especially when I got back from deployment to OIF.
At least America reveres it's soldiers. I hope everyone enjoyed their day today, most especially other vets out there.
