At least my husband was honest on our first date. He hadn't expected to meet up with me again (we met 3 months before for about an hour) and asked me out on the spur of the moment. He had no money or idea what we were going to do. He told me this as we parked his bike up outside a 5 star hotel (where he used to work).
We went in and he ordered two drinks. We sat and watched the world go by from the cocktail lounge (fab view of the bay) then as the evening went on we rode up to his local pub and he blagged a couple of freebie drinks out of his brother before getting me home.
Seems means but at least he pre-warned me and then next time I saw him he took me out properly to lunch and even bought me a John Denver cassette (that is how long ago!) as an apology.
