We have a problem over here with sick retards involved in dog fighting. There is now a "dangerous dogs" act and the American Pit Bull is banned in this country. Ostensibly for public safety, but it has the knock-on effect of restricting this vile pastime. Unfortunately there is also a breed "Staffordshire Bull Terrier" which is not on the list and they are remarkably similar. Needless to say this legal "oversight" means they can simply get a Pit Bull and lie.
What is really sad about this is that, at £600 per dog (black market) the scum that breed fighting dogs can't keep up with demand. It's a sad indictment of this country and something that makes me ashamed to be British. Whether you beat a dog or use it for fighting is, to my mind, equal abuse.
The "Staffy" as it's often called can be aggresive by nature, but so can Dobermans, German Shepherds and several other breeds. But, if properly trained and well socialised they can be great companions and perfectly safe to own. We shouldn't need a "dangerous dogs act", what we (and probably USA too) really need is a goddamed "dangerous people act"!
