Exactly.

Just look up Michael Vick - you'll find tons.
He's a famous NFL quarterback and he was involved in dog fighting and running an interstate gambling ring for dog fighting. The NFL looked the other way and let him back in and he got his 5 year prison term cut to 18 months. The NFL and all sports frowns upon gambling amongst it's players (Look up Pete Rose of baseball and see what happened to him for gambling) but with Vick, it all came down to money for the NFL so they let this one pass.
