The nutcases I work for actually let 3 of our drivers head down to Elizabeth in this shit!
I had all 3 in a conference call with me and it's not a pretty situation down there. Ray and Cheryl ended jumping off 78 a couple miles before the GSP and got a premium tour of unplowed roads and low clearances in the Hillside/Irvington/Union/Newark areas. Took them 10 damned hours to get there when it usually takes 3. They were glad the met up at the shop and decided to run "tag team". There were accidents and jackknifed trucks all over the place as well as freakin' PLOW TRUCKS stuck!!!!!!!!!!
Tom ended up staying on 78 and it was no better at all.
When they got there (each one to one of our 3 facilities) the NJ shop manager freaked out and asked why our dispatch even let them leave the plant let alone go to Elizabeth.
I went to Tastykake in Philadelphia and only spent an extra 1/2 hour getting there due to lowered speeds on the Pa Turnpike and Schuylkill Expressway. Pretty much a decent ride even with the weather.
