Very VERY heavy moderation there and a lot of people more than willing to cry to the moderators who relish editing posts. If I get any more confrontational, they'll remove my entire thread.

Part of her post, being the voice of reason against my obvious insanity:

Let's try to remember that BF has members from all over the world, people with autism, social disorders, shyness and more, and that any of these things may keep them from being able to express themselves the way we'd hope they would.

My reply:

I'm well aware that this site is frequented by people from all over the world that don't have English as their first language. I also appreciate that you feel the need to defend a friend who you seem to feel is being unfairly attacked. But language difference or not (and let me compliment a non-English speaker for using the word "sophisticated"), her intent was fairly clear when she wrote that comment.

And while you seem to feel that her word choice is ultimately my problem because I'm being close minded about this somehow, I'm not the only one that was offended. Check the original thread, it's been commented on by at least five others.

Believe it or not, I wasn't trying to single this person out. I also mentioned in my original post how freely members here throw remarks like "childish" when describing a game, like the only people that could possibly enjoy it have the mentality of a 6 year old. I've even seen someone say how a game was only good for old people. Language difference or not, that can't be read as anything less than insulting to a good number of people by being dismissed in this way.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to be warned for this post anyway.

I don't understand why she's even defending the remark. Rude is rude. How could the poster not be aware that her comment was demeaning? How could someone with the word 'sophisticated' in their vocabulary be unaware of its meaning?
