Nope never heard of a falcon, I'm sure you are correct about it being junk.

Anyway, my limited knowledge of derailers and such. I think those adjustment screws you are talking about are the limit screws, probably marked "H" & "L", I think. They are a set it and forget it kinda thing, they just limit the overall movement of the derailer, stopping it at the high end and the low end before the chain shifts right off of the chainring.
I can and have had luck working on decent stuff. Most of my working knowledge actually comes from my "big blue book of bicycle repair", and the internets, youtube has tons of videos on adjusting derailers and stuff. Although they sometimes make it look way too easy and only give you basics.

Rear derailers: Set the high-low limit screws, high being the highest gear, meaning the small one on the back or the big one on the front, low being the opposite. Then.....all the shifting adjustment comes from cable tension from that barrel adjuster.
I'm quite sure that I'm not much help.

BTW, the three bikes that I actually ride, all shift like a motherfucker. That meaning that they are dead balls, spot on, click, snap, in and go, no slipping, no bullshit, no second guessing, click it's in any you can jump on the pedals and don't get that suprise jump to another gear.

Brakes are a whole other game too.
When are we gonna see a pic of this thing so I can make fun of it?
