Well you're so damn close!
It's in the Norris Geyser Basin and porcelain basin at Yellowstone.
I'll have to give it to you since you gave such a broad spectrum guess but I don't think anyone will dig up the correct name unless they've actually visited Yellowstone now that I think about it.
It's called a "Paint Pot" and you can see more examples of it here on this blog I found:
