If BP isn't a British company, why do they say the country depends on them for a great percentage of the pensions?

Really? First I heard. No BP was once 'British Petroleum' but it got sold out in the 80's (although I'm not sure when) by 'Maggie'. There are no petrol-stations as BP now, or at least not on the south coast, I've seen.

I can't think there are that many drawing a company pension now from BP. Most people don't trust companies to invest their pensions and 'opt-out' ever since a newspaper mogul used the pension fund to prop up the business and lost the lot.

But then who believes everything the press has to say.
