The ASPCA managed to get dog and cat farming banned. Unfortunately the Amish don't always fall under the same laws we do but for anyone else, I dont' think they jail them, which they SHOULD do! But I think they are heavily fined. If the abuse is found by a judge to be horrific, jail time is sentenced.
I wish I could sit in place of the judge to render sentencing for animal abusers.
Many sentences are way too lenient.
