The F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II (JSF) are the 2 planes we're moving to.
The F-22 is an air superiority fighter, the F-35 is a strike (ground attack) fighter. They also happen to look a lot alike due to their stealth designs.
Right now the F-22 program is suspended though, mostly because we don't have a lot of need for an air superiority fighter and the F-35 is cheaper.
Actually I just read that this year Obama signed in a bill that TERMINATES the F-22 program in favor of the F-35. Yet we're still keeping the F-18 production lines, in order to make the EA-18 Growler, the replacement for the EA-6B Prowler. Bastards.
