Sally, I'm by a beach too and it's the fleas you have more issues with like me. You don't even need a dog or cat to have fleas - just living near sandy areas like beaches and dunes. Sand fleas. They're awful beasts.
Frontline takes care of ticks and fleas. When I lived more inland and had the horses we had a big problem with ticks. Thank god for these top spot products! I've seen houses with tick infestations and it's not pretty!
