i had a reverse situation. my youngest son was/is drop-dead gorgeous. he was approached by a modeling agency at age 13, and i checked it out for legitimacy. he was the quintessential blonde surfer-looking boy, and we lived in 'surf city' (florida). pedophiles like boys too obviously. he was also an athletic prodigy.
he had visions of clothes, money, girl models. so i let him think HE made decision to turn down modeling in favor of sports, because there would have been no time for both. as it turned out he was a pro ball draft pick at 17 and pitching paid for ALL his college. i was glad he made right choice because i don't want any kid to think looks are enough in life. they are too ephemeral.
