nah it was raining so hard off and on it just put the flames out after 3 tries we said fuck this and went on the front porch instead

Kid up the street from us got burned when his grandfather was 'teaching' him how to do that.

Holding a beer is some dangerous shit.

The trick is to use enough gas in the first place. If the pile of wood, pallets, old furniture, TVs, tires, dead woodchucks, milk jugs, toaster ovens, and used motor oil, doesn't jump at least 3 feet off the ground upon ignition you probably didn't use enough in the first place.
A good rule of thumb is that a proper fire will take at least 5 gallons of gasoline to "properly" ignite it the first time. You can adjust the initial GPL (gallons per lighting) based on how many beers you have had before ignition.

You all are amateurs! Back in the day, me and Bobby lit some awesome fires - some two alarms with only some matches and kindling. The trick is to stack the wood properly and start from a corner. The Flamingo swim club burned every summer. Forts? Never had a chance. Any dummy who built a fort near us and was stupid enough to leave a couch in there deserved to have it burned. Couch stuffing makes excellent kindling

One very successful fort went down in a summer storm. Fire department and all and the guy who built it confronted Bobby in front of the cops for it and got his ass beat for that right in front of the cops. It was burned down because all the wood was stolen from a construction company that gave Bobby all kinds of electrical work to do so we had money to play with. Also in the '70's, the cops were pretty cool about shit like fisticuffs in front of them AND it kind of helped that Bobby was and still is an Auxiliary cop
