Ugh.... spackling sucks. The dust from spackling sucks more.

I'm still not rolling out any paint. Why? Spiteful I found something else for Matt to improve.

See the tall skinny wall to the left of the cooktop and the one behind it? Well, I found some leftover formica from the counters and Matt's going to put that up there as a backsplash. I had to sand so much food off the wall that I THOUGHT I had cleaned each night! Barf You'd be surprised what you catch once the room is wide open and brightly lit! Formica will stay cleaner and it'll look nice.

I wish I had enough for the wall behind the sink too but that'll be OK and the way these cabinets are set up, it'll be cake putting one up another time. We got the sheets of formica from Home Depot when we first did the kitchen but the pricks don't sell it like that anymore! Bastards. Matt has a 'connection' so, One of these days.

AAARGGHHHHHHH! TK! Barf I HATE Formica. It peels and lifts with heat and age :gah2: Changes colour over time, cracks and well, is generally horrible.

Sorry.

I'm about to rip the stuff out of the camper cupboards and sand the glue off. A friend who worked for Sunseeker boat may laminate it for me, although not in black and red, like his camper! Beige is safe. Rolleyes

Well we can't afford granite or corian. We have the counters and they look fine and the backsplash will be OK. Black does not fade much and I have a counter polish that I use regularly.

I learned long ago not to put anything hot on the counter tops. Been a good habit since I was 10 Smile

One more coat of paint to roll out this morning and then we put things back. We worked until 11 PM last night! I'm exhausted. Matt's home sick. fun.

I was worried about the color last night, (you'll see in the pics I upload later) - the ceiling didn't look contrasting compared to the walls. I got nervous! It was the artificial light I guess. Today it looks nice in the daylight with no artificial lights. It could have been a little lighter for my tastes but I think it will fade as it settles. It rolled out lighter than the swatches though. It's usually the opposite.

FYI if anyone is interested - that Behr paint with the primer built in so it covers even black is a lie. Two heavy coats and I can still see the spackle through it.

I

AM

So

PISSED!

Never again will I tape to do the cutting in around the counters and moldings. NEVER. We pulled the tape off after and the whole job is fucked. There is now a thin bead where the tape and wall meet and some of it stuck right away and pulled the paint. more of it got on what I was protecting than stayed off. Now I'm going to have to do moldings when I had no plan or need.

My hand is steadier for this and I took a short cut by using that blue tape last night because it was late and I know I had to rock out more this morning. Now I have to do all the edges again and the moldings which never needed it.

DIY always takes longer than planned Aww

Would a hug help? Friends

At least it is only a 'little' kitchen. I'm dreading the hallway job- it will disrupt the whole house.

Still putting things back together! We've slowed down the pace - we're exhausted, my body is sore and we just ran out of steam!

I feel ya. I still have some wall decorating to do in my bathroom re-do. Once the big things are done, it really slows down.
