the on/off road hybrid model I sat on had one of those seats. I didn't like it. It wasn't fluid, it kind of "popped" so I felt it was more of an annoyance than it was worth.

I'll fiddle with it. I'm leaning toward that Rincon model.

I was also told the shifters were all metal, guts and all. What was nice was the shifters had two levers, one to push to higher gears, the other to pull to lower gears. Nice - it takes the tension and torque off the levers.

OK, not looking a the prices of those bikes and just giving them all a quick scan.
I really like the Revel, that is just based on it being the best looking bike in my opinion.
After that it has some modest tires on it, I mean probably more friendly all around tires, if you do more riding on pavement or hard pack you will get tired of big old knobby tires after awhile, and some small upgrades like alloy pedals.
I'm sure the gearing and everything is fine, you have to get up into some pro kind of stuff to get out of gearing range for the average person. If I remember the spec I looked at it's low gear was 22 teeth on the front and 32 teeth on back, that is pretty damn low. You should be able to climb trees with a gear that low. Myself, I like low gears, the lower the better. You are more likely to be wishing for a lower gear than a higher gear when you are out riding.

Again, most of my opinion is based on No. 2 being the sexiest. I really like the way it looks.
Another thing to consider, this bike is gonna be an all arounder for you. Ask them to be sure there is enough clearance for a rack or racks for carrying stuff. I see it has mounts but if there is not a style of rack available to fit over the tire and stuff it is no good. Make sure he shows you one that will fit and what it will look like with it on there, are your heels gonna hit a set of bags mounted on the rack? I'm just thinking that you gotta at least be able to carry a possibles bag with you, snacks, camera, jacket, etc, and need somewhere to stash it.
That bike is too damn pretty to mount a rack on anyway.

Also, I have not checked out the Trek website lately, but it has always seemed to me that Giant and Trek give you pretty good value for your $$.

I talked about racks and carrying shit on all of them. We're good to go there.

Tires.... here we are more sandy, deep sand in some locations, so I need a less aggressive tire that will keep me on top of the sand instead of digging into it. I'm real good at tire changing anyway so I would buy spares for the days we truck the bikes to a different park but that would be rare considering anything below highway 195 here is ALL sandy and mostly pine barren type woods.

Pedals.... that's already on the list of changing. Those things are crappy plastic and look like kiddie pedals. There's not enough grip on them anyway and all three bikes had those shit pedals.

All three bikes are around the $500 =/- range.

With the racks be sure that where you will have your seat adjusted to that there will be enough room behind/below the seat for a bag or trunk or whatnot. I know a lot of womens tend to have shorter legs and a low seat could make a trunkbag on top of a rack hard to do. As it is with me, if I have a trunkbag on top of my racks I have to take off my tool pouch that hangs under the seat. And my seats are pretty damn high up.
I kind of looked around the Trek website, I kind of like the Giants though.
And of course I can't find a handy photo of what I mean about seat height and rack clearance with bags.

I know what you mean with seat height and the bags. My seat will be very low. I'll manage though I always do.

Yeah, as the batteries bet better these bikes get better and lighter.
But other bike riders would bust your balls. Do it right or don't do it at all. Every guy on a bike would be lining up trying to make a run at passing you just to make you feel like a putz on an electric bike.
Sorry, that's just the way it is. You can wear tights, shave your legs, wear a pink shirt, nobody will break your balls out on the road, but an e-bike???

They're pushing them for 'suits' going to work. Not wanting to be all stinky and sweaty when they get to the office.
I kind of like the idea of it to reduce car traffic in NY or other highly congested cities. You couldn't get to work on time riding a bike without help. But when I look at this thing, why not make an electric moped or scooter instead if this is what you're gearing toward as your market?

Kind of off topic but I think OCC and Jessie James have outlived their usefullness.
Fucking posers. I mean it used to be a chopper was something that you scrounged up (stole) every part in the neighborhood and pieced it together in your garage, build it, work on it, fix it along the side of the road. Now, any douchenozzle with 30k has a chopper. Makes me wanna puke.

I see some dickbag yesterday at the grocery store on his sportster, all cool, long hair, beard, cigarette hanging, tattoos, etc, etc, he has on a West Coast Chopper t-shirt, I wanted to go slap that fucker in the back of the head.
I also have a problem with people that wear 15 pieces of Harley Davidson "flair". Assholes.
Get the fucking tattoo, and call it a day.
