Hey TK...a hurt cat question - Marie5656 - 03-30-2010 Hey, TK, or whomever-- Yesterday Kim's cat got onto the counter where I had a hot pan..and apparently touched the pan. Now he has a little ouchie on the pad of one paw. Just looks like a small scabbed over thing. He has been limping a bit, and holdint the paw up when he sits. He is still running and jumping, and does not seem too troubled by it. Kim wants to know if she should do anything. The spot is not open..looks like a scabbed over blister. RE: Hey TK...a hurt cat question - Vizth Hal - 03-30-2010 Sounds fine to me, it'll be healed in a week or so. Just check it for infection, and to see if it's opened every now and then RE: Hey TK...a hurt cat question - Twitchin Kitten - 03-30-2010 If he's holding it up when he's sitting it's paining him - a lot. All I can say is take the cat to the vet. More often than not cats will cover up injuries or illness and you'll never find out until it's past the critical point. It's some kind of warped survival mechanism. Take it to the vet. Burns are very painful for animals and humans. If he keeps licking it he's going to destroy his foot. RE: Hey TK...a hurt cat question - Marie5656 - 03-30-2010 OK, thanks. I am here at kims house now. Will let her know RE: Hey TK...a hurt cat question - Marie5656 - 03-30-2010 Kim has another question..since she got two different responses here. I should mention, the pan was not off the stove hot...I had drained some pasta into a colendar..so the heat had cooled for a couple minutes. I think he just touched the pan slightly..and booked. I did not see him do it. It is just one one of the small tiny pads...and I am not 100% sure it is a burn, or just hard tissue from walking...but he is limping a bit. RE: Hey TK...a hurt cat question - Twitchin Kitten - 03-30-2010 He's limping. That means he's hurt. It could be any number of things from a twisted leg, broken toe or burn at this point. ANY animal holding a limb up while sitting is in pain. If it were my cat I'd take it to the vet. RE: Hey TK...a hurt cat question - Marie5656 - 03-30-2010 OK, TK...I will trust you and let Kim know. RE: Hey TK...a hurt cat question - obycencio - 03-30-2010 Cats can be very stoical when it comes to pain... please take him to the vet
RE: Hey TK...a hurt cat question - Marie5656 - 03-30-2010 Unfortunatly, he is not MY cat..or I would have already. Kim, the owner is disabled and cannot drive. I am just hoping her mom will take Sam in. If not..I will take him tomorrow and pay for it myself if I have to. |
