I was going to say the same thing. How did someone age so hideously? He was HOT in 9 1/2 weeks and Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man.

excessive drugs and alcohol...he's been riding the AA wagon for some time now.
I'd love to see more of him. My favorite was "Barfly"...a dark and haunting interplay between artistic genius and late stage alcoholism.

He was a 'professional' boxer for a short time there and got that pretty face bashed up. So on top of the drugs and alcohol use, he had some pretty horrible plastic surgery which obviously didn't correct the damage his face suffered from his time in the ring.
