Steel Stacks Run - Twitchin Kitten - 07-14-2018 I must be out of my mind. Leaving the house at 4 AM for a run / cruise up to Steel Stacks in Bethlehem, PA. Venom has over 100 cars confirmed and they set aside an entire parking area for us in the best location! Been wanting to go here for awhile and this is it with the club or I go on my own. If I like it, I'll make a relaxed special trip another time. Pretty cool place to take pictures. http://www.steelstacks.org/about/ RE: Steel Stacks Run - Twitchin Kitten - 07-16-2018 So that was a waste of time and effort! 100 cars. We gather, meet at the final check point and all of us head on over to Steel Stacks together. It starts raining on the way into the complex. Fuck. It poured so much that I had to take my shoes off and walk barefoot because they were so wet. So we all figure out how to get someplace to dry off and get some food. Found a Perkins. Venom eats. We head home in the rain. MY TIRES SUCK IN THE RAIN. And I mean seriously suck. So while eating we map out a longer route home but not where it's raining. Mother nature decided that she needed to fuck with me and test my driving skills. Top it off, we made a new friend locally and he followed us out and back. I couldn't even do the speed limit. The rain followed us all the way home and it was really a challenge holding the car straight. Half slicks and she's sliding everywhere. Two hands on the wheel at all times!! I had some respite where they used that gravel and oil/tar to lay down the road instead of regular asphalt or cement. That shit at least gave me some grip. Took me 3 hours to get home. Took me less than an hour to get to Steel Stacks not counting the time at the two rest stops to gather up the cruise cars. All the way home Matt kept saying, "We're changing those tires to something with actual treads!" Too bad they didn't hand out awards for not killing your car in the rain. RE: Steel Stacks Run - LKTraz - 07-17-2018 Think seriously about these. The size difference is very minor but the wet traction difference is MAJOR. http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/street-tires/street-comp RE: Steel Stacks Run - twisteroo - 07-17-2018 Just go for what you can get off the rack at walmart. ![]() RE: Steel Stacks Run - Biker Dude - 07-17-2018 Well, wrecking that one would have been a bummer after what happened to the last one. Right? good thing it was me driving and not 'him'. RE: Steel Stacks Run - LKTraz - 07-21-2018 Just went to the site and they have a message that they did an update. Grabbed a new link and compared. It's different so this one should work. http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/street-tires/street-comp Go down to the 19" tires and the ones for you will be 285/35R19 Order online or locally you can go to Shore Motorsports in Lakewood http://www.shoremotorsports.com/directions.htm Or Pep Boys Speed Shop in Toms River on RT 37. RE: Steel Stacks Run - Twitchin Kitten - 07-22-2018 Thanks LK. The other car had Pirelli's on them with a similar tread. Went to dinner with club friends Friday night and one guy was freaking out over the fact these are on my car for daily driving. he's carrying on how they're gonna go at 2K miles or less blah, blah, blah. That's fine. I'm not taking these off and tossing them until I need them. Tires are not cheap as it is. In due time. Meantime, I just take the Edge out on rainy days for now. I was just upset that we couldn't avoid the rain and I did konw it was going to rain and took the gamble anyway. I don't really want to go to the narrower size though. And what about them fitting on the rims? I can't afford to buy a whole new set just for tires. I like the wider tire and how it feels. I'm going to have to really shop around. OH and when I'm not half asleep, I need to tell how I got kicked out of one of the clubs. Jesus what a bunch of crybaby bitches. RE: Steel Stacks Run - twisteroo - 07-22-2018 I can't wait for this story. ![]() |
