Harvey pays a visit to Texas - LKTraz - 08-25-2017

Looks like Hurricane Harvey is going to kick the shit out of Corpus Christi.  As of the last update at 8 EDT this morning it was a cat 2 with very good chances of becoming a cat 3 before landfall just southwest of Corpus Christi.

They are expecting the storm to stall and dump up to 24" of rain on the area!

Harvey still hasn't made landfall but is now a cat 4 and has slowed to 5 MPH!

If this continues it could evolve into a monster storm.

How did it pan out? I haven't had the TV on all week and the continuous flow of house guests and music have kept me out of the loop on a lot of things. Last peek I managed was like Friday? Dunno. But it had made landfall and no one was whining too much about it. I've had a headache all week though from it.

As of today they are still getting rain dumped on them and some areas will get 60 inches till it's over!

Some flooding is up and over interstate overpasses. Now they are a minimum of 14 feet from roadway to the BOTTOM of the overpass.

That's some deep-assed flooding.

They estimate that 46% of the population didn't bug out.
We'll probably be well into next week before any kind of accurate damage/death toll can be figured out.

Jesus. I'm catching bits of it here and there now on the TV. Houston is so prone to flooding as it is and the urban sprawl filling in swamps and wetlands is not helping. The water has nowhere to go. I agree with you about no one leaving, which doesn't surprise me. Many in hurricane prone areas have been through these so many times they just don't think it's going to happen to them.
