First Floor Pouf! - Twitchin Kitten - 02-20-2016 OK this was A LOT of work due to the fact I wanted something multi colored and festive looking. I searched for already tie-dyed t-shirts but none were to be found, so I went searching for fabric. I won't be using fabric that has to be sewn again. Way too much preparation and it nearly killed my little machine. get the pattern here: http://twitchinkitten.com/thread-4547.html I found this stuff in the clearance section at Joann's. It's kind of stretchy and when cut up like you see, it made a colorful confetti-like pattern. [attachment=3430] I had to sew the length of the fabric to make it a 'tube' so I can make it into strips like the instruction video shows in the download for this pattern. Then I cut that into strips as directed and then I had to sew some more because it didn't "pull into yarn" like she showed in the video either. This took a full 5 days to complete! That little machine is a lightweight and I had to use it to get a stretch stitch. I have a really big "power" machine from my gran, but it only runs a straight stitch. I could have knocked all this out in an hour if it had a stretch stitch! I ran a zig-zag stitch to bind it from fraying. First I ironed the whole thing so it's in half and set up for me. It wasn't very strong where the stitching I ran the length was so I had to run that zig-zag anyway to keep those from pulling apart during use. I regret not measuring how much "yarn" I made, but I did have some left over. Her pattern called for 7 XXL t-shirts and the bolt I bought we roughly measured that against some of those in the store and I did have more than 7 shirts worth. [attachment=3431] Now that my strips are done I began to crochet according to the pattern. This part took me all of 6 hours from start to finish. This fabric strip bit can be hard to see that back loop, but if you look and are careful, it's there. I also started with a magic loop instead of the way she says. [attachment=3429] Then I used one full 2 pound bag of fiberfill and another 1/4 bag to stuff it nice and tight. To prevent the stuffing from showing through, I took an old XXL white T-shirt and cut off the sleeves and sewed up the sleeves and collar and used that as a bag of sorts to stuff the stuffing into. Folded up the opening over itself so it doesn't unravel and it's perfect! And here is the finished product! It's a great foot stool or tiny seat for my tiny ass Measures 16" wide x 12" tall.
